Nona’s Supper Club

An Original Interactive Musical

Nona's Supper Club is about a legacy family-run restaurant in NYC owned by the family matriarch, Millie “Nona” Abalafia. On this high stakes night, Twyla, the determined grandchild, must convince Nona to retire and save the family's struggling restaurant before long-buried secrets, romantic entanglements, and one very questionable chef bring the Abalafia family's legacy crashing down.

Flashing between past and present, the piece weaves the story of Matilda “Nona” Abalafia, a Sephardic immigrant single mother who built a dream from nothing, and the family determined to keep her legacy alive.

The audience are the invited guests at the restaurant’s reopening celebration, interacting with the cast as the night unfolds and the family serves up an evening of love, memory, with a dash of dysfunction.

Conceived as an interactive theater event with dinner, as guests dine, the hilarious and poignant story and songs unfold around them, in the aisles and at their tables, making them feel like they’re part of the family, and central to the story. With an electrifying original score - from infectious pop anthems to show-stopping ballads - and a delicious meal, this interactive musical celebrates love, resilience, and the power of food to bring people together.

The Story:

The Abalafia family restaurant is reopening its doors for a grand celebration. Beneath the festive atmosphere lies an impossible task: convincing Nona, their beloved matriarch, that it’s time to retire and pass the restaurant on to the next generation. Twyla, Nona’s determined twenty-something grandchild, is fighting to save the crumbling family business, while Cesar, Nona’s deeply flawed son, grapples with a past that has finally caught up with him. Miranda, the eldest grandchild and an unapologetic drama queen, fuels the emotional fire, while Theo—Twyla’s childhood crush—arrives at just the wrong (or right) moment. Christina, the fast- talking hostess, works overtime to keep the night on track as Jerome, an imposter French chef with questionable credentials, bluffs his way through the kitchen.

Meanwhile, Steve, the charming bartender, finds his devotion to Miranda driving him to distraction. As secrets surface and tensions rise, the celebration threatens to unravel, forcing the family to confront what it truly means to honor a legacy—and whether love, (and food), conquer all.

Written by the award-winning mother-child duo Amy Poux (book, music, lyrics & director) and Trudy Poux (music, lyrics), Nona’s Supper Club is inspired by the life of Amy’s grandmother.

The premiere cast is led by Adam Tomei (The Truman Show), Emily Nadler (Line), and Trudy Poux, (Do Nothings) alongside Tucker Poux (Do Nothings), and Darian Bencosme, Danielle Palumbo, Ryan Fogler, and Liliana Valencia, with Amy Poux, Director, and Russell McCook (Bad People) as Music Director.
